From a point of view, the landscape is all natural and cultural assets that come into view. Landscape architecture professional discipline shapes and controls the earth in urban and rural areas. Land shaping in landscape architecture is to make the physical form of the area suitable for a specific purpose. Basically, land remodeling is the remodeling of the existing topographic structure with excavation and filling operations for uses such as structures, roads and facilities. In landscape architecture, land shaping aims at two main objectives: functional and aesthetic. Functional approaches in land shaping are based on preserving the natural balance by shaping the usage to be brought into the land in the most appropriate way. Aesthetic approaches are based on creating aesthetic forms and visual effects of the land. In this paper, functional and aesthetic approaches of land shaping studies in landscape architecture are examined. As a result, the importance of land shaping studies is emphasized in order to shape the natural character of the area in the most appropriate way without disturbing the existing structure.
