Using Creative Techniques in Design Education

The techniques that develop creativity in design education are widely used. 1st year students in the landscape architecture department, especially when teaching the basic principles and elements of these techniques are used. Experienced learning, project techniques and learning methods used in the studio on which students are thought to develop creative thinking courses. In this paper, learning techniques which develop creativity applied in the environmental design project-1 studio of landscape architecture department are explained. The techniques of brainstorming, connotation technique, watching and analyzing technique, using the techniques of listening and analyzing music, producing the design scenarios and the ability to produce the product with the three-dimensional model technique are presented with examples in this paper. With the use of creative techniques in design education, it is aimed to design an imaginary space depending on user activities and design concepts, and to design activity areas by defining what human needs are for a particular outdoor space.
