Abstract

Urinary incontinence(UI) is a universal health problem that adversely affects human health and has a high prevalence of incidence. In the literature, there are studies investigating the prevalence of urinary incontinence in the general population. There are no studies on the incidence of urinary incontinence in the Gypys population. In this study, it is aimed to ınvestigation of urinary incontinence awareness and genital hygiene behavior of Gypys women and Non- Gypys women. This study was based on Correlational-descriptive research. Study was conducted with 111 women who applied to the Family Health Center (FHC ) between January and March 2019. The survey was conducted with descriptive questionnaire, "Incontinence Awareness Scale" and “Genital Hygiene Behavior Scale" Incontinence Awareness Scale". Data was collected through face-to-face interviews. The research was carried out by obtaining the written permission of Ondokuz Mayis University ethic comitte. The data obtained in the research was analyzed by SPSS 21.0 program. The data was evaluated using descriptive statistics, independent-t test and correlation analysis. Of the participants in the study, 56.8% were Gypys and 43.2% were non - Gypys women. The average age of women was 34.23 ± 13.11 (min: 18; max: 67). In the study, urinary incontinence was found in 55.6% of Gypys women and 29.2% of Non- Gypys women. When the genital hygiene behaviors of Non- Gypys women and Gypys women were examined, it is determined that the Non- Gypys women's genital hygiene attitudes (54.78±11.42) were better than Gypys women (42.00±10.04). Women with non- Gypys women were higher awareness of urinary incontinence than Gypys women.
