Abstract

From the time that humans first started to live in a settled way, the effect of public places (as the common space for
the people from every section of the community) on communications with their surroundings, and the need to meet the main
requirements, have signs about the city, and improve the community’s conscious cannot be overestimated. People have deep
feelings about a place or feel themselves as part of the community when they are in contact with the environment and other
people. From this point of view public places, with the feature of being a life platform by creating the image of environment
and identifying the properties of community, are the residence of social-cultural activities. The aim of this research is to
identify the usage of art in public places, the different experiences that are presented to people and the role of art on improving
the quality of public places by recognising the contributions on physical and social interaction. Nowadays, many governments
are working to improve the environmental quality and the satisfaction about the places. The art activity in public space
arrangements, as well as the formation of space image and environmental identity, motivates the human behavior in the
environment and creates an aesthetic appeal in visual integrity.
