Abstract
Kanser küresel olarak ölümlere neden olan ciddi bir halk sağlığı sorunudur. Bu sağlık sorununun nedenleri genetik (%5)
ve çevresel etmenler (%95) olarak iki gruba ayrılmaktadır. Çevresel etmenler arasında ise beslenme alışkanlıklarının kanser
oluşumunda önemli bir rolü vardır. Vitamin, mineral ve diyet posasından zengin meyve, sebze ve tam tahıllı ürünlerin
tüketiminin kanser oluşumunu önleyebileceği bildirilmiştir. Bu derlemede diyet posasının kanser üzerine etkilerinin incelenmesi
amaçlanmıştır. Diyet posası çözünür ve çözünmez posa bileşikleri olarak kategorize edilebilmektedir. Çözünür posa bileşikleri
kısa zincirli yağ asitlerinin oluşumunu sağlamakta, glutatyan-S-transferaz (GST) enzim aktivitelerini arttırmakta, siklooksijenaj-
2 (COX-2) ve nükleer faktör kappa beta (Nf-Kβ) aktivitelerini azaltmakta, gut ilişkili lenfoid doku (GALT) yanıtını
düzenlemektedir. Çözünmez posa bileşikleri ise kanserojen moleküllerin emilimini azaltarak, tümör hücrelerinin gelişimini
inhibe ederek kansere karşı koruyucu olabilmektedir. Sonuç olarak diyet posasının çeşitli mekanizmalar aracılığı ile kanser
gelişimini önleyebilmektedir. Ancak altta yatan mekanizma tam olarak açıklanamamıştır. Bu nedenden dolayı posa ile kanser
arasındaki ilişkinin daha iyi anlaşılabilmesi ve altta yatan mekanizmanın net bir şekilde belirlenebilmesi için daha çok çalışma
yapılmalıdır .
