Bu çalışmanın amacı, 1980-2018 yıllarında dünya literatüründeki adli tıp araştırmalarını istatistiksel olarak analiz etmek, son trendleri ve yenilikleri belirlemektir. Bu çalışmada regresyon analizi ve bibliyometrik analiz yöntemleri kullanılmıştır. Clarivate Analytics tarafından sağlanan Web of Science veri tabanındaki “Adli Tıp” ("Medicine Legal") araştırma alanı taranmıştır. Web of Science indeksinde 39421’i makale kategorisinde olan toplam 53562 yayın bulunmuştur.
