Abstract
Construction and elevator sectors are growing rapidly all over the world with the technology that has developed in recent years as complementary to each other. Elevator industry, which is developping collaterally in Turkey with the world, is getting a more and more important place every day. With this development; assembly, documentation services, periodic inspection services, parts production and maintenance services have begun to be developed. It is known that there are nearly 800.000 elevators in our country together with buildings which are not allowed to use, and this number is added to more than 50.000 elevators every year. In view of the constantly changing technologies in elevators, the introduction of appropriate standards, the CE obligation in production, the red and green labeling practices in the business have made the industry more reliable. Despite the fact that more than 20,000 employees are present, there is a need for trained staff in the industry. In order to overcome these needs, various plans have to be made.
In this study, technical staff working in elevator companies in Tokat province; installation, maintenance-repair and periodic inspection services were examined, the levels of education were examined and various suggestions were made about what to do. It has been determined that the staff did not take enough courses related to the elevator during their education life, did not perform an internship and could learn after they started technical works such as elevator installation, maintenance and repair.
In line with seen inadequacy, we conculuded that the education levels of the technical staff working at the firms must have been increased. In addition, it is necessary to establish an elevator section in the high school and in the universities in order to train qualified staff. Furthermore, revising the curriculum of the existing departments that may be related to the elevator with the sector and adding the courses in this area will ensure that the students do the internship in the elevator companies, which will prevent the problems to be experienced in the future.
