The landscape sector is a form of presentation that emerged as a result of the transformation and organization of the art of gardening into a profession. Landscape has become a discipline that facilitated the development of the proviences in Turkey in terms of the construction sector. As the construction sector grows, the need for personnel with new ideas, different opinions and technical knowledge is increasing in the landscape discipline.. The landscape education is provided by the landscaping and ornamental plants departments of the vocational colleges at various universities. The graduates are entitled to become landscaping technicians.

This study explores the level of student density in the landscaping and ornamental plants programs in vocational schools at the universities based on the statistics and quotas reported in 2017 Student Selection and Placement System’s Manual.As a result, the present studye reported the number of landscaping and ornamental plant departments, the universities housing those departments, the cities where these departments are located, proportion of the number of students to the quotas, and the number of students in those programs. Possible solutions were discussed in the light of the status, issues, and challenges of landscape and ornamental plants departments.
