A DESIGN PROCESS IN LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE EDUCATION

Abstract

Design is the stage in which a person with a problem or problem focuses on one of the unlimited suggestions and chooses and develops the most appropriate. Actually, it is a form of expression of the products that the designer offers a unique solution both aesthetically and functionally. Landscape design is the art of designing open spaces for user activities and activities. Depending on the user diversity of the designed outdoor spaces, the user needs, the activities that user needs are made of and the necessity of designing these activities with which design principles should be determined by the landscape designer. In this system, the side-by-side arrangement of activities is the success of landscape design. In this study, the project and process that the students who took Environmental Design IV, which is a compulsory course in 3rd year of KTU Landscape Architecture Department during the fall semester of 2017-2018 Education, were explained within the scope of landscape design education study. The project was carried out according to the principle of creating a functional and aesthetic space according to different scenarios within the creativity of each student's own product. As a study area of the project, it is known as Karagöz Square in the city center of Trabzon. It has a lot of historical buildings around it, it is an urban courtyard which can gain the identity of the city and has intensive use. As a result, at the end of the 16th week, students exhibited their products with creative, original and modern lines, following a design process that fits both the project design process and the city identity
