Analysis of Internet Dependency of Health Services Vocational High School Students in Terms of Different Variables

Abstract
Nowadays, rapid developments in the field of information technology and the use of the internet are becoming widespread depending on the living conditions we are in. The young population has become an important part of the lives of university students in particular. The Internet, which is generally easily accessible to everyone; information is used for fast reaching, communication convenience, shopping, entertainment and games.
While addiction is often perceived as a drug, addiction to technological tools such as the internet is developing. Internet addiction
generally affects the physical, mental health and social relations of the Internet in the non-controlled and harmful use of the
Internet. However, overuse of the internet, which is an important part of our lives, has brought health problems.
The purpose of this study is to examine the internet addiction of Health Service Vocational High School students according to
different variables. In the fall semester of the 2017-2018 academic year, the study group of the study consisted of 553 students,
416 girls and 137 boys, who were studying at Gümüşhane University Health Services Vocational High School. "Personal
Information Form" and "Young Internet Addiction Test-Short Form" prepared by the researchers were used as the data collection
tool in the research. Analysis of the data was carried out with the SPSS 21.0 package program. One-way analysis of variance
(ANOVA) and Independent Groups t-test were used in the analysis of the data. Students' internet addiction was compared
according to various variables. The results have been analyzed and discussed in this context.
