B Eklemeli Üretilmiş Farklı Hücresel Yapılı Sandviç Panellerin Sonlu Elemanlar Yöntemiyle Eğilme Davranışının İncelenmesi
Abstract

Investigation of the Bending Behavior of Additively Manufactured Sandwich Panels with Different Cellular Structures Using Finite Element Method
With recent advancements in additive manufacturing, cellular structures, which are quite difficult to produce with traditional techniques, can be manufactured more easily. Cellular materials, which can be used as cores in sandwich panels, are frequently preferred due to their low density, high rigidity, bending strength, and energy absorption capabilities. In this study, sandwich panels with four different cell topologies—honeycomb, cubic, skeleton IWP, and truss—were modeled in Solidworks. The honeycomb cellular sandwich panel was manufactured using the fusion deposition method, one of the 3D additive manufacturing methods, with polylactic acid (PLA) material. A three-point bending test was applied to the manufactured sample according to the ASTMC393/C393M standard. Finite element analysis was performed on the same sample under appropriate boundary conditions, and the obtained result was compared with the experimental test result. After it was observed that the experimental result and the finite element result were in agreement, models of sandwich panels with different cell topologies were produced while keeping the relative density constant. The bending behavior of the produced models, depending on the cell topology, was investigated using the finite element method. As a result, it was understood from this study that among sandwich panels with the same mass and basic dimensions, the sandwich panel with a cubic cellular core has the highest bending strength.
