The Effect of BENTAR (Silicone Sprayer Sticker) on Ricania japonica
Abstract
Ricania japonica (Melichar, 1898) (Homoptera: Ricaniidaee) is a harmful insect species. It is spreading in the Eastern Black Sea coastline from Artvin- Kemalpaşa to Ordu - Perşembe. Since 2006, R.japonica has been continuing to suffer the loss of all vegetables and fruits and even tea plants. There is no licensed insecticide against R.japonica and since organic tea is made in its distribution area, chemical control is prohibited. This situation necessitated the development and implementation of new methods of control. In this study; In 2018, the results were evaluated using BENTAR® Silicone Sprayer Sticker (Thiobacillius thiooxidans, Thiobacillius ferrooxifans, Acetobacter spp., Lactobacillius spp., Silicic acid) in laboratory and field conditions. Three different doses of BENTAR® (250 ml/100lt, 500 ml/100lt, 1000ml/100lt) were used in the trials against both nymphs and adults. At the end of the 10th day of laboratory trials against nymphs; BENTAR® 50% in 250 ml, 400 ml 58%, in 1000 ml 90% and in the field trials, 31% of 250 ml, 38% of 500 ml, and 66% of 1000 ml deaths were observed. At the end of the 10th day of laboratory trials against adults; BENTAR® 28% in 250 ml, 500 ml in 51%, 1000 ml in 81% and in the field trials, 250 ml of 27% in 250 ml, 500 ml of 35% and 1000 ml of 60% deaths were observed. The most effective dose was 1000 ml dose application in both laboratory and field trials. After the application, deaths were very low observed for the first 3 days, but the most death occurred on the 6th and 8th days. At the end of the study, it was thought that BENTAR® preparation might be effective in the control of R.japonica.
