Diyarbakır buğday alanlarında 2016-2017 yıllarında buğday bitkisinin köklerinde kökbiti, Smynthurodes betae Hemiptera: Aphididae) saptanmıştır. Bitkinin köklerinde koloni oluşturarak, köklerden bitki özsuyunu emerek beslenmesi sonucu bitkinin gelişmesi gerilemektedir. Bazı tarlalarda zararlının yoğun olmasından dolayı bitkilerde kurumalar görülmüştür.
