Publishing Policies & Ethics
SETSCI are committed to the standards of publishing integrity and academic honesty. Editors, reviewers and authors are encouraged to refer to The Committee on Publishing Ethics (COPE) and to follow its Code of conduct and guidelines.
All the documents are free to read and download. Copyright is retained by the author(s) under the Creative Commons Attribution license.
Editorial decisions and editorial processes are run by the editors of the proceedings who are members of the organizing committee of the event.
The Editorial Board aims to shape the publication environment, such as ethical publishing practices, inform those involved in the editorial process, and foster informed decision-making by editors, so the integrity of our publications is upheld. If we are made aware of any allegation of research misconduct the publisher or editor shall have the right to deal with the allegations appropriately. As SETSCI, we are responsible for ensuring that all published works adhere to the highest standards of ethical conduct. To that end, we have established the following ethical guidelines for authors, editors, and reviewers:
- Authors must ensure their work is original and contains no plagiarized material.
- Authors must accurately represent their research findings without fabricating or falsifying data.
- Authors must properly cite any sources used in their work.
- Editors must ensure that all submitted works are evaluated fairly and objectively.
- Editors must not use their position to influence the outcome of a submission.
- Reviewers must provide unbiased and constructive feedback on submitted works.
- Reviewers must not use their position to gain access to confidential information.
- All parties must maintain the confidentiality of the review process.
- All parties must adhere to the principles of academic integrity.
- All parties must act in accordance with the SETSCI's policies and procedures.
- By adhering to these ethical guidelines, we can ensure that all published works meet the highest standards of quality and integrity.
Open Access & Publication Fees
SETSCI Conference Proceedings is an open access proceedings series, meaning that all articles are immediately and permanently free to read, download, copy & distribute under the terms of the applicable end-user license. The online publication of each proceedings is sponsored by the conference organizers and hence no additional publication fees are required.
DOIs
Each paper that is published in a proceedings is assigned a Digital Object Identifier (DOI). DOIs are standardized digital identities which can be used to cite and link to electronic content. A DOI is guaranteed to never change, so can be used as a persistent identifier to permanently link to an electronic article no matter where it is stored.
Peer Review
All proposals for proceedings to be published in proceedings book are first evaluated by a scientific evaluation committee consisting of senior researchers in the relevant field. If accepted, the peer review process for the individual articles within each proceedings book is under the responsibility of the conference organizers and the editors appointed by the program committee of the conference, who are committed to conducting the peer review in line with international scientific standards. Reviewers should be instructed to assess the quality of submissions solely based on the academic merit of their content including but not limited to the following dimensions:
- Is the topic relevant to the symposium area of interest? Is it contemporary and interesting for researchers?
- Are all required components included in the abstract? Are the keywords appropriately chosen?
- Is the goal explicitly stated in the Introduction? Is its formulation clear and unambiguous?
- Is the paper´s structure coherent? Is it in coherence with the goal of the paper?
- Are methods the author uses adequate and well used?
- Is it related to the results presented before? Do you consider them as coherent?
- Does the author utilize relevant literature?
- What is the level of author´s knowledge? Does he/she utilize all recent contributions relevant to the topic?
- Is the length of the paper adequate to the significance of the topic? Do you suggest shortening the paper without losing its value?
- Does the author use them suitably? Are legend and notations clear?
- Is it clear and understandable?
- The originality of the work and its contribution to the field?
Post Publication Policy
After the Proceeding is published, changes can only be made regarding typographical errors (Missing/incorrect figures and tables, Missing/incorrect equations, typos in author names, etc.).
Editorial Committee
SETSCI Conference Proceedings Editor-in-Chief will guide the journal’s Editorial Office regarding the journal’s scope, development strategies, and policies. The Editor-in-Chief is responsible for suggesting conferences to cooperate with and making decisions on conference cooperation plans. The Editor-in-Chief will provide support and guidance to the journal’s Advisory Board Members, and Editorial Staff as needed.
SETSCI Conference Proceedings Editors, in most cases, are the conference chair or co-chairs. They are responsible for managing the peer-review process and selecting papers for conference proceedings. Moreover, they are also responsible for providing the contents of the complete proceedings to the journal for final production and preparing other front matters.
