Necessary cookies

These support sign-in, account security and your cookie choice. They are used for those functions regardless of your offline reading choice.

Optional offline reading

If you allow it, the site registers a service worker and saves public pages, images, fonts and scripts in browser Cache Storage so they can be read offline. This does not create an analytics or advertising cookie. “Necessary only” leaves offline storage off. Turning offline reading off unregisters this site's service worker and removes its caches.

Optional Google Analytics

If Google Analytics 4 is configured, its script loads only after you enable Analytics in cookie preferences. It can measure visits and site usage and may set cookies such as _ga and _ga_*. You can withdraw this choice at any time in Cookie preferences. Existing offline reading choices do not enable Analytics.

Management display setting

The administrator interface saves setsci.sidebar.collapsed in browser local storage when an administrator changes the sidebar layout. It affects only that display preference and is not used to measure visits.

Usage measurement and external resources

SETSCI counts article views and downloads on its server without a cookie-based analytics identifier. The public site also loads its font and icon library from external providers; those requests are separate from SETSCI's cookie preference. See the privacy page for information about site data.
