Authorship Policy
Authorship, contributor credit and changes to author lists in SETSCI proceedings.
Last updated 28 September 2026
Who qualifies as an author
An author should have made a substantial contribution to the work, participated in drafting or critical revision, approved the version submitted for publication and accepted accountability for the work. Author order should be agreed by the author group before the final files are supplied. Contributors who do not meet authorship criteria should be acknowledged with their permission. The ICMJE authorship guidance provides further detail.
Before publication
The corresponding author should confirm that every listed author has reviewed and approved the final version, that no qualifying contributor has been omitted and that affiliations and identifiers are accurate. Gift, guest and ghost authorship are not acceptable. Conference organizers provide the final author metadata to SETSCI.
Contributor roles
Where organizers provide structured contributions, SETSCI may display CRediT contributor roles alongside the article. A role statement describes what someone did; it does not by itself decide who qualifies as an author.
Changes to the author list
Requests to add, remove or reorder authors after publication should explain the reason and include agreement from the affected authors. SETSCI and the conference editor review the request and, when approved, record the change through the corrections process rather than silently editing the article.
