Moda Endüstrisinde Çevresel Sürdürülebilirlik Projelerinin Birleşmiş Milletler Sürdürülebilir Kalkınma Hedefleriyle İlişkisi
Abstract

The Relationship of Environmental Sustainability Projects in the Fashion Industry with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals
The increasingly rapid production and consumption cycle in the fashion industry is causing serious environmental problems. In this context, sustainable design and production practices have gained considerable importance. The sustainability movement, which was founded in the 1960s, has emerged as a strategy aimed at reducing environmental impacts, making resource use more efficient, and ensuring fair labor conditions in the fashion industry. The understanding of sustainable design, production, and consumption has become a fundamental necessity for the fashion industry to exist more responsibly towards the environment and ecosystem in the long term. Based on this need, fashion retailers have aimed to support consumers who value altruism by developing some sustainable design and production projects while trying to reduce the damage they cause to the environment. The aim of this research is to analyze the relationship between various projects implemented in the fashion industry with the goal of sustainable design and production and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals by examining various projects. In this context, various projects carried out by fashion retailers with the aim of sustainability were accessed through literature review and critical analyses were made through the content. The findings revealed that fashion retailers mostly carry out projects focused on restorative agricultural practices, carbon neutral (zero emission) production, ecological leather that support the UN's development goals of Responsible Production and Consumption (SDG12) and Climate Action (SDG13), Life in Water (SDG14) and Life on Land (SDG15).
